BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is one of the most dramatic advances in the ongoing war against wrinkles and excessive sweating. BOTOX® Cosmetic can help smooth facial expression lines: those deep furrows across the brow, the vertical wrinkles above the bridge of the nose, and crow’s feet. BOTOX® Cosmetic , more than any other treatment, can improve or diminish such lines by relaxing the facial muscles. These wrinkles are called dynamic wrinkles and are due to the effects of underlying facial muscles. Not only do these muscles cause the face to appear wrinkled, but also they can cause tension headaches. IS IT SAFE? CAN ANYONE GET BOTOX® Cosmetic ?BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used for close to ten years to treat double vision in children due to muscle imbalance. There have been no serious untoward effects. There are certain people with neuromuscular disorders who may be particularly sensitive to the effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic where they could experience systemic side effects. In addition, BOTOX® Cosmetic should not be given to pregnant or breast-feeding women. WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment typically takes only 10 minutes in the doctor's office. It involves tiny needle pinches to the target areas. Most patients find BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments to be quick, easy, and effective. HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?The effect may last for 3 to 4 months. When BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to treat axillary hyperhidrosis, the effect may last 6 or seven months. IS BOTOX® Cosmetic A SUBSTITUTE FOR COLLAGEN INJECTIONS, LASER TREATMENTS, RETIN-A, AND PLASTIC SURGERY?No. All of the above treatments still have a place in the treatment of wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic is suitable and remarkably effective for the treatment of expression induced wrinkles. Collagen, laser resurfacing, Retin A, and plastic surgery may be appropriate for the treatment of wrinkles caused by the sun, cigarette smoking, sleep position, and loss of skin elasticity. DOES BOTOX® Cosmetic WORK FOR THE TREATMENT OF EXCESSIVE SWEATING (HYPERHIDROSIS)?Yes. For those people who suffer from excessive armpit sweating
